Learn about SSL Therapy Services

Hello!

SSL Therapy Services was established by 3 experienced clinicians aiming to provide affordable Counselling and Therapy to all.  Our approaches to treatment include Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy Bowen Body and Mind Work and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Our aim is to provide a fast and professional service, including assessment, treatment, wellbeing workshops and supervision for both professionals and clients.

The experience amongst our Directors’ and Practitioners includes working within the NHS, private practice, supporting medical legal cases, working alongside charities and supporting within the community.  In the last 2 years, we have become Plymouth’s organisers of Queen Fest; raising awareness of mental and physical health associated with pregnancy and becoming a parent, which was inspired by Australian Constance Hall.  In addition, we have reached out to other leading holistic professionals to present further options to improve physical and mental wellbeing, including Hypnotherapy and the Bowen Technique.  This includes identifying the need of bespoke workshops, supervision and team building.

Our aims are to reach out with new projects and to help raise awareness of the support that is available.

Our Vision

What is important to you, is important to us.  Recognising you might need help is a huge step and we understand that.  We are passionate about delivering the right help and working alongside our clients.  Specialising in trauma, SSL Therapy Services is forward thinking in how we provide our psychological approaches to assessment and treatment.  We believe that affordable help can be provided to all and with a range of holistic approaches, professionals and personalities, we are able to assist and strategise the help required, for each client.

Our Directors are continually thinking of new ways to give back to our community, whilst maintaining investment in ourselves and our wellbeing.

Clinical Director and Chartered Psychologist

Sarah Wimpress

Hi, I’m Sarah, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist who has had the pleasure and privilege to work with clients for over 22 years, delivering therapy and trauma focused treatments to help empower people to make the changes they have not been able to do alone or with medication. I take an Integrative approach to therapy (see below for detail) and have worked with a wide range of difficulties over the years, my specialism being working with clients with C-PTSD.

I work from the point of view that every mental health issue has a root cause and therefore with an individualised approach it is possible for all to heal and recover. The most important thing for me as a practitioner is that my clients feel comfortable and safe and that I am the right fit for them, a vital ingredient for therapy to progress well. My approach individualises people’s sessions as we are all different with varying needs. I also take the view that educating people about why they are suffering is vital for recovery and to empower the client in the therapeutic process. I will help you feel excited to do your journey and honour your story.

My treatment approaches: EMDR, CBT, CFT, IFS and Mindfulness and Psychodynamic psychotherapy.

My accreditations: The British Psychological Society (BPS): reg no: 95850

Health Professions Care Council (HCPC): reg no: PYL21774.

My client groups: self-referral, private health, GP or Psychiatric referral and personal injury.

Julie Rose-Clark

I am a compassionate Student Counsellor with a strong background in mental health and trauma-informed practice. I have experience supporting young people and teenagers in children’s homes, many with complex trauma backgrounds.

My work has also included supporting high-risk women experiencing domestic violence, and I currently work with women within the criminal justice system. These experiences have strengthened my ability to provide sensitive, informed, and non-judgmental support across a range of complex needs.

I specialise in helping young people navigate stress, anxiety, and personal challenges, while also offering support in areas such as domestic abuse and emotional wellbeing.

My approach is person-centred, creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves. I am committed to empowering both young people and adults to build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to move forward positively.

I am currently completing my Level 4 Counselling qualification, which includes working with a range of adult mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma.
